Sicklesmere and District WI was formed in November 2009.

We are a small but growing institute and will give a warm welcome to any newcomers who would like to see if the WI is for them.

We have a diverse range of ages starting from 21 all the way up to 75 and a wide spectrum of ladies with many and varied backgrounds and interests.

As an institute, we meet once a month in the local village hall, where we have a short meeting about current affairs within the Institute and the Federation.  We then go on to enjoy the current month's speaker/demonstration.

We learned about Henry the Eighth and his six wives; the work of the Fishermen's Mission, were shown how to make original Valentine Cards; and given an insight into the story of Unilever tea plantations in East Africa.  Other meetings have seen us dyeing fabrics, making masks, discovering local history, visiting the local Masons and taking a tour of old Bury.

Please visit 'meet our committee page' to learn a bit more about some of our ladies, and the News page shows just how diverse our meetings are.
