2012
Our first meeting of 2012 saw a visit by Rex Freeman who explained the benefits of growing old disgracefully, resulting in an active and fulfilling life. His talk was peppered with a range of jokes and anecdotes, forming a highly entertaining event, and many of us felt a great deal younger by the end of the evening.
Unfortunately due to snow and ice, our February meeting was
cancelled.
We are very lucky to have Bradfield Woods in our local area. At our March meeting, Judith Metcalfe, Community and Education Officer for Suffolk Wildlife Trust, explained the history of this National Nature Reserve, with its long standing practice of coppicing and pollarding many ancient trees. The woodland soils are extremely varied, resulting in over 370 different plant species, along with numerous animals and birds.
In April we held a Beetle Drive, ably organised by Jane Gwatkin, and much enjoyed by all as confirmed by the continuous laughter throughout the evening.
